Troy Davis : USSC blocks the execution
On 22 September, the USSC blocked the scheduled execution of Troy Davis approximately two hours before the execution was to take place.
The stay will give his lawyers time to consider an appeal petition which is challenging his conviction for the murder of an off-duty police officer in Savannah, GA.
The Court will then consider Davis’ petition asking for review at its Conference on 29th September. The stay of execution will be lifted automatically if review is denied.
If, however review is granted, the stay will remain in effect until the case is decided.
