Statements by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Spokesman (excerpts)
Paris, May 10, 2011

The Ministre d’Etat will have a meeting today with Fouad Siniora. This meeting, which will take place during a visit to France by the former Lebanese Prime Minister, leader of the Future Movement parliamentary bloc, will provide an opportunity to discuss the situation in the country and the region.

This meeting will also allow the Ministre d’Etat to reaffirm France’s commitment to the Franco-Lebanese relations of friendship and French support for the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and stability of Lebanon.

France stands alongside Lebanon in anticipation of the formation of a new government, which must allow the authorities to respond to the needs and aspirations of the Lebanese people, strengthen the Lebanese State and cooperate with the international community on certain key issues such as the Special Tribunal for Lebanon and the implementation of UNSCR 1701 (…)./.
