Foreign Minister Alain Juppé had a meeting with Mansour Saif al-Nasr, the Libyan National Transitional Council’s (NTC) special envoy to Paris.

The Minister welcomed Mr Saif al-Nasr’s appointment, a sign of the close ties and trust that characterize relations between France and the NTC. The NTC’s special envoy was informed that he could set up operations in the Libyan Embassy in Paris.

Mr Al-Nasr discussed the situation on the ground with the Foreign Minister, who reiterated France’s support for the NTC.

The question of unfreezing Libyan funds was also discussed. The Minister told his interlocutor that the process of unfreezing Libyan funds was now complete, making $259 million available to the NTC. The NTC may now use these funds for humanitarian purchases under European regulations./.
