European Food Aid Programme for the Most Deprived
Paris, September 20, 2011
France is strongly committed to the European Food Aid Programme for the Most Deprived (PEAD), which enables 18 million Europeans to receive daily food aid.
In view of the crisis, this programme is tangible proof of the principle of solidarity in Europe. It would be unacceptable for Europe to abandon its weakest fellow citizens. It has a responsibility to guarantee the financing that enables charities everywhere in Europe to fulfil their important missions.
President Sarkozy hopes that European channels enabling the PEAD’s long-term existence to be guaranteed will be found by the end of the year./.
