Afghanistan: Death of Two French Legionnaires
Paris, December 29, 2011.
President Sarkozy was extremely saddened to learn of the death this morning in Afghanistan of two legionnaires from the Saint Christol 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment. During a support mission for the Afghan National Army (ANA) in Tagab Valley, these two non-commissioned officers were deliberately fired upon and killed by an Afghan National Army soldier.
President Sarkozy offers his most sincere condolences to the bereaved and shares their grief.
President Sarkozy reiterates France’s determination to continue working within the International Security Assistance Force in order to re-establish peace and stability in this country and to contribute to its development.
