French Embassy Hosts Inaugural Meeting of Agriculture Policy Experts

On April 25, 2012, Christophe Malvezin, Agricultural Counselor at the Embassy of France in the U.S., and Thomas Schmidt, Minister Counselor for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection at the Embassy of Germany in the U.S., hosted a conference called "G20 and G8 Agriculture and Food Security Outreach."

The event, which took place at the Embassy of France, was the first meeting of the Washingtonian Embassies Group on Agriculture and Food Security. The new forum aims at delivering information about the latest international developments of agriculture and food security policies to the Washington D.C. diplomatic community.

The first meeting focused on the latest conclusions of the G8 and the G20 regarding agriculture and food security. The day’s events included presentations via video-conference from the French Ministry of Agriculture and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome.
