The President had a telephone conversation this afternoon with Mr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, President of Nigeria.

During the conversation, the situation in Mali was discussed. The two presidents welcomed the effective action by African and French forces in the fight against the terrorist groups in northern Mali, and the progress being made in restoring the country’s territorial integrity.

They also took stock of the situation regarding efforts under way to secure the release of the eight French people being held hostage in Nigeria. The Head of State thanked the Nigerian President for the active role being played by his country’s authorities to secure their release./.
