THE MINISTER – The best way of facing up to this situation is for the international community to meet – there’s a meeting of the Security Council to take decisions – and for the Iraqi government, with the different political movements, to be able to respond. We’re following the situation by the hour. I’ve discussed the subject with my American and Saudi colleagues, and of course we’re in touch with the Iraqi authorities.

Q. – As RTL revealed to you yesterday, Baghdad has officially requested France’s help. What means do we have to respond to this?

THE MINISTER – For France, the question doesn’t arise in terms of military intervention. The question arises in terms of political action, and we’re taking it./.
