Alain Vidalies, Minister of State for Transport, Marine Affairs and Fisheries, welcomes the ruling issued today by the London Court of Appeal in the MyFerryLink case.

The Court of Appeal overturned the decision by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and ruled in favour of MyFerryLink. The decision allows MyFerryLink and the SCOP [Société Coopérative] SeaFrance to continue operating ferries between Calais and Dover.

“It’s excellent news for the French ferry industry and for jobs in Calais,” said Alain Vidalies.

Although the French competition authority had said in 2012 that MyFerryLink could continue trading, the CMA banned Eurotunnel from operating three MyFerryLink vessels on the Calais-Dover route. The Competition Appeal Tribunal confirmed this decision on 9 January 2015, resulting in MyFerryLink being banned from operating vessels from July 2015 onwards./.
