1. Colombia - Signing of a peace agreement - Statement by M. Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development (Paris - November 24, 2016)

France welcomes the signing in Bogota on 24 November of a final peace agreement between the Colombian government and the FARC [Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia]. It is a milestone on the path to peace in Colombia.

I pay tribute to the patient determination of President Juan Manuel Santos, Nobel Peace Prizewinner, to give precedence to the path of dialogue. The implementation of this agreement by all Colombian people will give that country the prospect of a better future. Colombia can count on France’s wholehearted support, bilaterally as much as within the European Union and United Nations frameworks.

I shall convey this message on a visit to Colombia in December.
