1. Chemical weapons - Press briefing given by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs Spokesperson - excerpt (Paris - April 3, 2018)
Q. - On 31 March, Russia officially handed France a list of questions concerning the Skripal case, requesting details about French involvement in the investigation of the case in the UK. What answers does France intend to give to the letter from the Russian diplomatic service?
THE SPOKESPERSON - The OPCW alone was asked to provide assistance under Article VIII of the Chemical Weapons Convention in order to verify the findings of the inquiry conducted by the UK.
We are urging the Russian Federation to answer the questions the UK put to it on 12 March 2018, which have remained unanswered since that date despite the seriousness of the Skripal case.
The UK has kept the France closely informed of its technical investigation. France shares the UK’s assessment that there is no plausible explanation other than a responsibility by Russia and again expresses its solidarity with its ally.
