Welcome to the North American tax attaché’s webpages

Our ambition: to provide you with answers to your questions pertaining to the tax treaties signed by France and the US, Canada and Mexico. But also provide you with general information on French taxation.

Under no circumstances can the taxation office intervene in solving a specific case.

Before sending us your letter/email/fax (the taxation office doesn’t accept walk-ins or questions by phone), please check that the information requested is not available on the webpages of the Embassy’s taxation office.

You can now make an appointment with The Direction des Impôts des Non-Résidents (French Non Tax Resident Service)

La Direction des Impôts des Non-Résidents a désormais mis en place la possibilité de prendre rendez-vous en avance avec un agent de la Direction.

You can now make an appointment with The Direction des Impôts des Non Résidents. To do so, you will need to go to the Contact page of the website impots.gouv.fr. Then choose “Particulier”, then the subject (for instance, “Votre domicile fiscal” which means question about your tax residency status), then “IR” (i.e. income tax”) and then below the address of the Direction, you will see “Prendre Rendez-vous” (which means make an appointment).

Survey for the Nonresident taxation office (Service des Impôts des Particuliers des Non-Résidents - SIPNR)

The French General Directorate of Public Finances wishes to improve its service offer for non-resident taxpayers in France.
They need your input to assist them in this process. If you live abroad or plan to do so, taking a few minutes to fill out this survey will allow them to better meet your expectations.

The survey is available in French only here
