Lebanon – attacks against the Lebanese armed forces

France condemns the fresh attacks perpetrated on 15 December against the Lebanese armed forces on the outskirts of Sidon, which left one soldier dead and several others injured. It extends its condolences to the victim’s family and expresses its solidarity to the injured.

France reaffirms its commitment to the stability of Lebanon and calls on all Lebanese people to make efforts to prevent an escalation of violence and to preserve national unity, in accordance with the Baabda
Declaration. We renew our support for the efforts being made to that end, under the authority of President Suleiman.

We express our support for the Lebanese armed forces – a pillar of security for the Lebanese people –, which are courageously working to maintain Lebanon’s stability.
